SLEIGH YOUR HOLIDAY SHOPPING AT THE SHOP SMALL MARKETPLACE

THE WOMEN’S BUSINESS CENTER AT FIRST STATE COMMUNITY LOAN FUND TO HOST SHOP SMALL SATURDAY MARKETPLACE

Local small business owners are teaming up to make holiday shopping easier this Shop Small Saturday with the “SHOP SMALL MARKETPLACE”: from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on November 25, 2017, at The Delaware Contemporary on the Wilmington Riverfront. The event, hosted by The Women’s Business Center at First State Community Loan Fund (WBC), will celebrate local women-owned businesses and clients of the WBC, by creating this one-stop-pop-up-shop for the community to support locally.

A wide variety of businesses are set to participate, and shoppers can expect to find goods from local artisans, creative home goods, fashionable accessories, specialty bath and body products, unique jewelry and more.

For merchants, this Marketplace provides a chance to leverage on foot traffic, expose their businesses to a local consumer base, and capitalize on the national buzz around Shop Small Saturday. For shoppers, the Marketplace will make scoring unique finds and supporting their locale that much more easy.

“We’re excited to help our local small businesses grow and create a unique platform for our clients to gain exposure right here in our community,” said Sara Crawford-Jones, Director of the Women’s Business Center. “We think this Marketplace is a win-win model for both small businesses and shoppers.”

The Marketplace is the first of its kind. The WBC is a “hub” for specific women business development and support services in the State of Delaware. The mission of the Women’s Business Center at First State Community Loan Fund (WBC) is to act as the catalyst for providing in-depth, substantive, and outcome-oriented business services to women entrepreneurs. The WBC provides intensive business training that includes: courses on business plans, business financing, social media, and marketing analysis. In addition, the WBC will provide the opportunity for new women-owned businesses to be mentored by existing, successful women business owners.

The WBC not only offers technical assistance services, but also helps connect women business owners to capital to help start or grow their business. The partnership between the WBC and First State Community Loan Fund allows women and entrepreneurs to not only access much needed capital, but also receive valuable business assistance, pre and post loan. For additional Information about the Marketplace, please visit www.wbcshopsmall.org.

The Women’s Business Center is a federally funded program of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Office of Women Business Ownership. First State Community Loan Fund hosts the WBC and its mission is to act as the catalyst for providing in-depth, substantive, outcome-oriented business services to women entrepreneurs, both nascent and established businesses, a representative number of which are socially and economically disadvantaged. Last year, the WBC counseled over 300 women and entrepreneurs in business, trained 1,211 participants in business related topics, and provided 3,358 hours in business counseling.
